Having served as one of the mainstays behind Paris based label SEML Records, La Syncope is a skillful pianist and a rising producer. Taking cues from Funkineven and Floating Points, La Syncope has a knack for strange and expected harmonic turns, as well as rich, colorful arrangements.

With the first three tracks off his debut EP, La Syncope shows distinct production skills and an interesting mix of influences, borrowing its natural, flawless swing from house music while slipping away from its timeworn formulas with serpentine melodies and basslines. Closing off the EP is "Renovatio", a rather different track, bordering ambient with deep blue pads and a more impressionistic approach to composition.

"Al Chameau" is La Syncope's debut EP and takes its names from the legendary soul artist Al Jarreau, who recently passed away. It is also the first EP to be published via MAÂT, a newly launched Paris-based collective consisting of La Syncope, SSCK (Mawimbi) and Tim Karbon (Vox Populi Records).
